Like the title says...

My 12" gigas is on his way out...

No, I have no clue why, it happened overnight...

I think something attacked his mantle because now he is gaping and pulling away from his shell...

How sad...My favorite thing in this hobby will soon no longer be with me :(

I thought he was so hardy too, that I never thought of loosing em in the 2yrs i have owned him...

If you have another clam that you may be looking to get rid of in the near future...let me know...I will probably be on the lookout...

Thanks

That really sucks. I would die with my Derasa lol. I have had him since he was real small and he's football sized now. I saw a formation on TV in the Soloman Islands the other day that was a huge rock like formation made up of giant clams and have been thinking of doing that every sinse. It was awsome. They were grown into a giant arch of different color giant clams.

I'm sorry to hear about your clam. I had to go through the same thing. It's tuff since they get so big and really become the show piece of the tank.

I had a carpet anemone and when the lights went off it somehow touched the clam and actually pulled it in. I had just walked by to notice the whole clam in the carpet. I peeled it back and after the next few days it never recovered.

This was the carpet. It had gotten huge and I really don't think I will own one again after it ate teh clam and so many fish.

that does stink...I love clams and the carpets!bummer. I got my first clam about 3 weeks ago from wwc. I love it.

Thanks man...it has been rough and yes was a gorgeous clam! :(

I had a bunch of aiptasia on this shell next to the mantle...I think one of them probably stung him good...

Time to start fresh i think...
