Thanks, I've been looking for awhile. There was one LFS that has one the same size and color and wanted $249 which I thought was excessive, was I wrong. I got this 6" for $79. The LFS needed xenia so I traded 12 large stalks for it. What is the going price for one this size anyway?

i just paid $120 for one that is identical except that it is 10"

10" thats huge, can you post a pic of it? I thought the $249 was excessive. They say these grow really fast so this is going to be fun watching it grow.

i dont have a pic right now, but will try to get one soon. I went into my lfs and saw they had one in their display tank. When I asked if they would sell it, they said their distributor had a biggie on their list. Long story short, after a long time of looking for one, I just got lucky

I think it will outgrow your largest tank in no time flat. It certainly is a beauty though... I always love the gigas but I cannot put one in my 300 gallon tank.

well if it comes down to it you need a MUCH BIGGER TANK than a 110 good luck

Right now it's in a 90 but in about 3wks it'll be in a 180. If it out grows that I'll get a bigger tank. it's going to fun watching it grow anyways.

i know, I plan on building one that sets on the ground(or close to it). And designed to suit the needs of the clam and only the clam

wish you luck bob, its a very nice clam... the only problem that i can see arising from your plans is that gigas are known to be very finicky to being moved...

Careful when moving it, they're very sensitive to moving

anyone know what to do if bristleworms start eating a clam---I just noticed mine wasnt opening all the way on one end, so i PICKED IT UP AND FOUND BRISTLEWORMS ALL OVER THE BOTTOM AND CRAWLING OUT OF THE BYSSAL OPENING (sorry, hit the caps button and im too lazy to rewrite all that)

sounds like your clam is dead. Bristle worms do not eat healthy clams.

my clam is still alive and kicking---it responds to all stimuli, but you can see a few "bite" marks on him

I've heard of people having problems with bristleworms bothering their clams.
