i have a huge (13inch) gigas clam and it has been nipped by my tang and two parts of the meaty part (mantle?) has turned kinda white and retracted (not hanging over the shell like rest of the clam) what can i do? what food to feed clam to help it recover?
is it a blue hippo by chance? My blue hippo loves to do the same thing so I had to move the clams to another tank. As long as the clam is getting picked at it will not open fully in fear that it may get bitten again. If the tang keeps picking he may have to find a new home or you may lose the gigas. Maybe try and cover the clam to protect until you can reslove the situation. Maybe get some eggcrate and plastic wire ties and make a "cage" to enclose it for protection but the eggcrate will still allow flow.Just a thought. Good luck.

i think its a yellow eye kole tang. he likes to chew on the glass and rocks in the tank. but i guess he also likes to "bite" the outside of the shell of the clam also.
