Gigas has a cut

I went to move my Gigas to my new house this last week and noticed he has a 1/2 inch cut (slit) in the center. Have no idea how it got their. It wasn't there a few weeks ago. So far for the last week it has not gotten better or worse. I can post a pic if it would help. Don't know if I need to worry about it or not.

Here you go. So far the clam still looks good. Its been about 3 weeks now.

it should heal up fine. It actually looks like it has been healing already. The white tissue around the "cut" is probably healing mantle tissue, just lacks the zooxanthallae at this point. My lawnmower blenny went berserk about a month ago, and ate the exhalemnt siphons off a few of my clams. I , of course, got him out, and the clam are healing in much the same way. They are actaully regrowing the siphons, but at this point, it is just white tissue as you see with your photo.

Thanks it look like he is healing up real well. I got this clam when he was about 3" and is now over 12" , I would really hate to lose him.

Just over 2 years. Here is a shot of him about 3 months ago
