Gigas problem.

My gigas has been closed down tight for two days now. I think a snail or hermit may have fallen off the rocks and landed in it, tho of course I don't know for sure. FYI, the crocea next to it is fine, so water problems aren't causing this.
Any suggestions?

if a crab did fall in then every time the crab moves the clam will clamp shut.you could try to turn the clam upside down so the mantle is to the bottom of the tank, and then the crab will want to go down and wont be erratating the clams mantle and i might open up.i wouldnt leave it like that for more then a day tho.
Good luck
let us know if it works

Have you examined the clam for any parasites? Has the flow around the clam changed at all. I put another tunze stream in my tank last week, had to rearrange my clams, they weren't happy with the new flow. Just a few thoughts.

No parasites. Flow is the same. It never opens, so the upside down idea doesn't work. Thanks for the suggestions though. I fear it won't make it.

how long did you leave it upside down?if there is a crab inside it may take a long while for the clam to relax and open, dont give up on it yet.turn it upside down on the sand bed and prop it up so it stay's that way and give it some time .the clam should at least open its shell to pump water, but if there a crab inside and its right side up the clam my never open.

It's fine today. Whatever was irritating it is gone. Thanks for the advice.
It's about 4 1/2 inches wide now, about double the size when I got it six months ago.
