Gili Islands

Has anyone dove in the Gili Islands off of Bali, Indonesia? I am going on vacation there for 2 weeks this June and I would love to hear about it.

haven't dove there, but i know of the islands through friends......Gili Trawangan is prolly the most popular of the three...great diving and lots of stuff for tourists

be warned, lots of hippies congregate on the Gilis...that could be a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it

but yeah, you're gonna have a great time...see if you can stop by Flores....Komodo National Park....I was there last month and had an amazing time....some of the most intense diving in Indo as far as i'm concerned.

Sounds incredible, can't wait for this trip! How about the snorkeling? Is it decent or should I get my diving license?

definitely go for the diving license...there's so much more to see under the water

Snorkeling should be pretty decent as well. On my trip most dive shops had a house reef in front of their shop. In the Philippines, before I started actually diving, I went for a short swim and snorkel....while I was out I saw a sea snake and a turtle. The turtle took off pretty fast but I was able to keep up with the sea snake for a while.
