Gilleleje Reef - 300 Gallon SPS from Denmark

Hi

I started to use Seaklear due to the infothread here on RC.
In the beginning i dosed 5 ML once wekly - but now i dont dose anymore.
The reason is that I personally think we look at Po4 as the enemy, and often we forget that its also needed in the tank - not too high though ....

Remember that our corals need much more than just light for nutrition.

So today seaklear is on the shelf, ready for use, if needed.

My lampsystem is about 30 cm over the waterlevel.
But my system is connected to a motordriven lift, so I can raise it up to 1 meter over the water.

That is needed if I buy new corals, or I can see that some corals become pale due to lack of nutrients or iodine.

I use the preset programs on P1(4 pcs) and P2 (2 pcs), 6 maxspect in total.

I would say u dont need any bacteria product - only thing u need to 'buy' before the end of startup phase is patience :-)

best of luck to u and yr tank, and thx for writing here :-)

Regards
Peder
First off - love your reef, fantastic!! Very natural look & feel to it.
I quoted the above as I appreciated the info regarding your use of Lanthanum for phosphate control. Keep up the good work. :bum:

Hi Greg,

Hearing those words, from U - is truly an honor. U made the dream, we all aim for.
TOTM, is like a goldmedal in the Olympics for our hobby - after work I will look at your tank(cant wait) :-)

Regards
Peder

Hi Peder,

Any feedback concerning your new skimmer Skimz SL 253? My Skimz is the only piece of original acquired equipment that i havent had second thoughts of changing. Works beautifully and silent!

Best regards
Dino

Hi Dino,

well, first it feels kind of strange to talk with U here, because u are my friend:inlove: and we already talk 'tank stuff' 3-5 times weekly:lol2:

But so far, Im very happy with this small skimmer, and its so easy to adjust, compared to the 'old' one.

Maybe its downgrading, but its still the right thing to do for me - or for my tank.

Have a nice evening, maybe we talk later anyway LOL :-)

hugs:wavehand:

Your tank gets my vote for a TOTM for sure!!

Diving in Gilleleje reef

Diving in Gilleleje reef

Last weekend we had the pleasure of visiting Peder and his amazing reef. I took the opportunity to test my GoPro camera by doing an underwater video..

Here is the result:

WOW, that underwater vid is pretty sweet!!!, I am curious to know how much pump and equipment noise could be heard underwater? just wondering what the livestock listens to.

Surprisingly enough not alot. The camera though has an underwater casing which isolates also sound. If you have ever gone diving you get the same noise in your ears as the video so its not that bad :eek1:

It has been many years, but I have dove, I remember seeing another video where the noise in the display terrible....I imagine the difference must be the quality of equipment.

It is an amazing tank in real life as well -and the guy behind it (Peder) is a star, super competend and helpfull. He is one of our personal good friends.

Thank You everybody for your comments - its really nice reading.

But I do think the credit should be in Dino's favor, since he is doing all the work about the amazing video. Im just a passionated reefer :-)
