Gilleleje Reef - 300 Gallon SPS from Denmark

Hi al reefers

Just bought a school of "glass" Apogons. Trying to get them started eating with cyclops and artemia - anyone else here have input about this fish ?

The ligt is temporary T5 - thats why it looks odd today. Im upgrading all my Maxspect with the new 120 degrees lenses :-)

The pics look good Peder. How are you liking the Maxspects?

Thanks Wayne,

You are always so polite and possitive :-)

About my Maxspect R420R well.....its a long story, sorry

I think its the lamp right now, were I get most PAR and quality for my money.

I used to have HQI 400W, and they were very nice - and as a lot of other people I jumped towards "the promised land" the LED .....and I made a BIG mistake.:sad2:

I bought Ecotechs Radion(Gen 1) and they were poor quality - and after all(6 pcs) of them had been repaired 1-3 times - I gave up, and sold them.

I loved the design and the ligth too with the Radions, but I need to trust my equipment, otherwyse my coral will not be happy.

To be fair against Radion, i think their new models are better - but they gave me poor service back then - so I will not walk that road again.

What I like about the Razors is that they are very stable, they are cheap, give very high PAR readings - maybe even too much PAR.

Thats the reason I changed to these new 120 degrees lenses(reflectors)

Furthermore I have spareparts in my own country(at my home actually) and thats very important for me. Radion lamps had a central service agent in Germany - and spending a lot of money on my system - I dont want a shaded area in my tank, because of a faulty fan, waiting for repair and tranportation time:hammer:

Hope this makes sense - a local dealer that can give support, is for me a very big issue too.

Personally I love my R420R, but my advice about buying LED would be what suits yr wallet, yr corals - and a quality brand were U can get local service.

Jmo :-)

Thanks for the response and insight. I had an eye on the maxspects but never heard more about them. I agree radions are the standard but the price are out my range. But you make a great point in the end and I thank you.

Really beautiful!
Well done peder!
Do you have problems with the flow now that the corals are huge?

Hi Mike,

Yes - actually I upgraded the flow about 6 months ago, because of growht.
Now I have about 60-80 times turnover per hour - but on pulse ofcourse, trying to simulate real wawe.

Thx :-)

Peder, you have one of the nicest systems I've ever seen! I love those Apogons, are they relatively easy to keep and not too aggressive? I'm not familiar with those fish.
