Gimmito's 450 L-Shaped Display

I had Gen make a acrylic stand for me so I could accommodate a Geo 818 calcium reactor on top and Geo kalkwasser reactor on bottom. I'm contemplating trying bio pellets again since I have 30 fish in the main display.

My blue face angel went rogue and developed a taste for expensive corals (acans, scolys, blastos, etc.).

I gave him a 24 hour eviction notice !

I just spent the last 3-4 hours reading through page by page from the beginning. What a great build you have going on here. I wonder, you show a lot of the fish in the fuge or FT and not in the QT. Did you put the gobies and clowns in QT before going into the other tanks? I just wonder why not just put them in the DT if you aren't using the QT. Maybe I'm confused. In fact, I'm sure I'm confused. Anyway, beautiful tank, and your Sailfin is a real prize. One of my all time favorite fish. I look forward to following the progress. Subscribed!

Kudos for reading through the whole build thread. Regarding QT'ing fish, I typically give a welcoming bath of prazipro or in the case of tangs Rid Ich plus (malachite green & formalyn). My QT's are small, so I've been putting fish in the FT since it's a established system. In the case of the gobies, they came from Diver's Den and I know they've been treated and QT'ed in their systems. I put them in my fuge so the could acclimate better with the sand in there.

Great questions...I hope that makes sense.

I did see about your prazipro & Rid Ich treating when you get the fish. I think my confusion was thinking that your FT was tied in with the rest of the system. Just looked back and I think I have it now. Your DT is tied with your sump, and your fuge (which is BTW is basically another DT if you ask me! It's beautiful with the grass & macro you have along with all the other life you've got living and growing in there). Then you have a QT system with sump that is stand-alone, and the FT is also a stand-alone. That about right? Well either way, you've clearly got an eye for detail, and I love how clean and organized everything is. I hope to one day have something half as nice...

Yup...great eye. I believe in separate systems just incase there's a crash that I have a back up.

Thanks for tagging along & the kind words !

I love the L shaped tanks they have so much space and amazing looks once finished good luck with your project

Thanks Rinkrat,

I would've loved to have had a rectangular 500 gal, but I think the 450 gal has worked out pretty well with some well placed aquascaping.

Unfortunately, found some spots on the smaller naked clownfish (darn ich !). Thankfully, the other fish show no signs. I put him in a bucket w/a heater and small powerhead. I dosed Cupramine and will treat for the directed time. It just shows you to quarantine all fish regardless how the may look !

Thanks Maroun,

The little guy is probably my favorite out of the bunch. He's very personable and extremely inquisitive.
