Alright so we all know mantis are fun lil guys to watch, so what do you give yours to play with? Live Dinners that is. Drop a crab in and watch it run for its life? Clams from the grocery store? List em boys :)

Temporary clean-up crews...

Tim (G. smithii) gets a collection of nassarius, astrea, cerith and sometimes stomatella, at least once a month. Any hitchhiker crabs (pretty or not) and all hermit crabs (though he doesn't like the taste of them - or maybe they are too much work for too little food).

When live treats run low he gets dry shrimp pellets, frozen krill or reef mix (variety is the spice of life after all).

Homemade fish food, krill, or a chunk of silversides are Arts staples. He's been known to get the occasional hitchiker crab. I'll also collect those little clams at the shoreline (can't remember the species) and drop a couple in once in a while.

Back when I had Bun-bun (a male O. scyallarus), I'd give him clams from the seafood store. I tried mussels, and he wanted nothing to do with them. nasty things died and fouled the tank... what a fun bunch of water changes that was.
