Glass Cages or Miricles

I have a GC that I bought back in 2004 and it's been FW & SW. I've had no problems.

Still scratching my head. Tank will be 48x24x18

Mine is a 48x24x20, 3 sided Starfire. The delivery works great if you can meet them. They let me know well in advance so I could make arrangements.

I got a quote from Miracles also and if I had the extra money with nothing else to do with it I probably would have gone with them, but the price was close to twice as much. You get what you pay for if you need the details to be perfect. Miracles builds beautiful tanks, GC builds strong tanks cheap.

Glass cages shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Miracles. I have had two Miracles tanks, working on getting a third one this summer ;), and they make incredible aquariums. The customer service is great and the tanks are second to none.

The tank is the most important part of the system, so if possible dont skimp on quality. If you can swing it, go with Miracles.

You could always drive up to Toronto and pick up the tank yourself. This should save you a couple hundred on the cost of the tank and you could even swing by my area and check out the local setups. :D

If you are close enough to drive to pick up a miracles it might be worth it just to not hear such condescension.

I sent miracles a email to start the order process. So I guess I ll have to wait for the paypal deposit request. Unless sonney will just sell me his..... lol . I might have to run up and check it out anyhow.

Mojo~

I don't think you will regret going with Miracles, I just placed an order for a 48"x30"x22" rimless and Derek has been awesome to deal with. I have 5 weeks to go.......

Mojo- Sunny knows what he's talking about. Luckily I'm only 2 1/2 hours from Miracles and I've been to the factory on several occasions.

Our local reef club + LFS's have had 50+ by Miracles and 3 by Glass-Cages. 2 out of the 3 GC tanks blew apart. The silicone job on the third was so bad the owner had to use plastic strips to hide the corners. EVERY tank from Miracles comes out looking like a piece of art (including the one I owned). Even our Oceanic 57's aren't nearly as nice as the quality at Miracles. Seriously!

Glad to see you are making the right decision. Now... my opinion on shipping: get it shipped vs. wasting gas driving and fighting QEW traffic, you probably won't save a lot of money and the factory is pretty far from you. However, if you do take the drive and happen to go through WNY on your way, let me know! :)

Will, Miracles ship UPS ground and if so how big of a tank will UPS ship. I am wanting a 60x33x25 Does UPS have the equipment to load a tank onto a trailer when I pick it up? I can order a tank from my LFS and have it deliverd to my house but I would rather have it made by Miracles, but I am just not sure how to get the Miracles tank shipped.

I would agree with that. have seen one miracles tank in person and its what I am wanting. Just hate to see the extra $$ go. I am not sure I like the delivery on gc either. if something comes up and I can get there then I am SOL. With the other tank it will be delivered to ups frieght and I pick it up there.

Still scratching my head. Tank will be 48x24x18
Good luck with delivery by UPS Freight.....when you have it shipped make sure they mark it as top load only.....I work UPS Freight so I know how they ship....

They crate it and its just how they ship it. Not really an option. My buddy said his cam in on a skid all crated up and all the wood was actually really nice as well. lol

Happy to hear you when with Miracles :) My new tank and my frag tank are custom from them and couldn't be happier :)

I had mine shipped home to but didn't has for a full crate since it was a direct delivery, but the base was really well built. The only concerns is to make sure that the plate on the truck is big enough to put the tank on ... Sound pretty obvious but the deliver compagny didn't think about that for me ... So the delivery guy had the tank 1/3 hanging in the empty to be able to lower it down ... In the end when really well but could have not been the case if it tipped

Did you start a build thread on your new project ?

Glad to hear you decided on Miracles Mojo, I was going back and forth between having a custom 60x24x18 done by Miracles and just going with the 57g rimless, I decided to go with the 57 for now (your tank was certainly an inspiration) and see about adding the large tank later on, it was great working with Miracles on the design and pricing of the tank and I've heard nothing but good things about their quality. I look forward to follwing your build thread (if you start one) for the new tank.

You will like it. Nowwwww, tell us alittle bit about what you ordered, lol. We want details, don't leave anything out, and a few pics of your soon to be old tank would be nice.

I am on my second Miracles tank. My first was a 110 and my current is a 220 eurobraced. I can't speak for the other company you were dealing with, but, I can tell you first hand that you will not be disappointed with Miracles. I drove 14 hours each way to pick up both of my tanks because I did not want to take a chance in shipping damage. The new facility in Orangeville is quite impressive. I saw about thirty 300+ gallon tanks in various stages of completion so they are definately building a great deal of high end custom installations. The glass they used on my tank was 5/8". They even used the same thickness on the eurobrace. The edges are all ground and polished.

LOL if my wife asked it was only $20. ha. like that
my tank is a nano tank ans was $5 if the boss asks
