Well. I do use regular glass cleaner, but I spray it directly on to the paper towel and away from the tank to prevent any drift. If this method is bad, I'd like to hear why? I go over the glass a second time with a dry towel and it looks great!

the reason most commonly used is that Windex has ammonia, and the ammonia gas can leach through the glass into the tank. For that reason, I use water and a clean towel to buff my outside glass (acrylic) to a nice shine.
