Glass vs plastic bin sump?

I've been doing a lot of reading on sumps and have seen storage totes used as the reservoir. Does this work OK? Obviously they're a good bit cheaper than any other solution, and easier to drill, but I wonder about leaching. Thoughts?

I'm going to use a Rubbermaid trough on my new build, they've been used for a while now with no troubles.

not the prettiest thing in the world, but it works. i have a large rubbermaid as my sump currently.

My new 93 rimless, Victoria.
I went FOWLR with the 240.
Im actually looking at molded ponds now for the new tank, so many sizes and designs.

Rubbermaid stock tanks are nice but I would avoid anything wimpy. They tend to degrade rather quickly in our environment.

Glass will most often last longer and tends to be more space saving.
