Beautiful fish! I've never seen one in real life. I wanted to be the first to respond and warn you and hopefully calm others from flaming you about purchasing a fish before knowing it's requirements. I would treat it like the tangs you have mentioned. Give it plenty of room, great water quality, friendly tankmates, and some algae to experiment on!

it is not aggressive as the powder blue or achilles tangs but it is a delciate tang like the achilles...powder blues probably have the best track record of the three but i know there is a couple people on here that have that fish for a while now mostly in large tanks though..

Hi Guys,

This is the first photo of him last nigth in my reef.

Acanthurus nigricans or glaucopareius is the same fish.

I was looking for an achilles or Powder Blue, but I found this fish yestarday in my LSF and he was there for 4 months....he is eating everthing....that is wy I bougth him. He looks like very health and fat.

Generally it's better to keep than either the PBT or the Achilles as it's more hardy and seems to do better than both. You need to watch out as they do come down with ich for time to time. They are a little skiddish but are general better to keep than the Achilles tangs and don't have the problems that come with some PBT that make a lot of them die early. Pretty peaciful tang also, unlike either the PBT or Achilles tang, and should get along with other tangs much better. I does get to be a pretty good size so the 110 would need to be upgraded in the future.

If it's eating, and it does look good from the picture, the fish should do very well for you.

It usually goes under the common name of White Cheek tang, Similar ones are called Lolly-pop, Gold Rim and Powder Brown tangs.

It looks good, has the round look to it not skinny at all. If you look at some pictures of larger ones you'll see that they have a round look to their bodies.
