GlennF's 1500 liter mixed reef tank

The last few week i gradualy repaced al my T5 ligthing.

It was about time !!!!!!!!
The result after 12-14 months in used was obviously showing.

In my opinion lighthing choice is 40% responsible for optimal result in a top level reef tank. Another 40% is the waterquality and 20% procent luck and effort.
In a reef tank mainly stocked with sofcorals these figure will be more leveled.

greetings, GlennF

Hi Glenn, your livestock are truly incredible. Excellent job. I have done some searching on the web about your method and I am curious to know if the system ever levels off and becomes less work, or are you constantly testing and adjusting etc? Thanks

Thanks!

The reason i came to this way of reefkeeping is the same most people think it's so labour intensive.
- I do 3 test weekly :
These are alk, ca, po4. When the system has been stable for a while, i will become lazy and do this biweekly. But is keep a close look athe health of my corals. ( not a real heavy task)
- the other tests i do biweekly, or even once a month when stable for a while.
These are Mg, Sr, K, B, I, No3.
- all these elements can be controlled in a very easy way.

So if the question is: am i constantly busy measuring? I say absolutely NOT.

I rather choose for smart environmental friendly solutions which saves me lots of time and corals, than spend lots of time wasting money, space and resources just to see that my results are average, or below.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the information. It seems completely reasonable considering the result you are getting. It seems I need to do some more homework and educate myself more. :-)

I recently exchanged all T5 light bulbs, so the colors will become more vivid in the weeks to come

Hello Glen,

Beautiful mix reef you have there. I did read through the thread but I might have missed it. I kind of understand that you don't change water but test for other stuffs and manually supplement it. But what about Nitrate and Phosphate?

How are you dealing with them? I see that you feed alot as well.

Thanks
