GlennF's 1500 liter mixed reef tank

What would you a tribute your success with the goniapora? I've tried a couple times and I just can't keep them long term. Do you do anything special for it?

i believe the total picture of elevated PO4/NO3 + carbon and iron dosing are the key to succes.

who said soft corals and SPS Corals don't mix in one tank or even side by side?

This acro has been in my display a long time now. Recently i can see some development in color and growth.
I will observe this closely...

greetings, GlennF

i always asked myself why this seriatopora hystrix won't turn pink, until i got a real pink one which stayed pink. it seems this is a red/purple version.

Although it's now standing in the shadow of the big staghorn colony.i don't think it will ever turn pink.
very soon I will be replacing my bulbs and will do some experimenting with different colors tubes.

Stunning tang. What will you do with him when he gets twice his current size?

Dave.M

for now twice the size will be no problem. it't the age that matters.

i had a acanthurus sohal before for 6 year. After he became obnoxious against other tangs I sold it to a reefer who was looking a long time for a Sohal. He kept it together with other fish who could withstand his behaviour.

Hey Glenn . Stunning tank. How do you keep the feather star ? How do you feed it ? I have always wanted to keep one of these , but reading has put me off. I put live pods in my tank even other day , would it eat these?.

Thanks!

I kept one for 10 months bij heavily feeding the reefs (NPS style) with a blended mixture of deepfreeze an dry food.
Heavy feeding bring extreem risk with your nutrients control, so make sure yor're in control

Incidental feeding is not enough they need constant feeding.

Thanks glen. Well that's put me off. Lol . Maybe I'll try in a few years time when I know a bit more. I'm only just starting to keep sps. Again though congrats on the tank a real show stopper.

Wise decision.. when you feel very confident you can control your po4,no3 and cyano developing in your tank you're ready to try.
They seem to like zooplancton like rotifiers also, but getting hold of a constant and substantial amount of rotifiers means you have to cultivate it yourself, which is a lot of work and take a lot of space in you home. I know because i have been breeding anemone fishes and seahorses. For that i needed to have rotifiers and phyto plancton to feed them.
