GlennF's 1500 liter mixed reef tank

Glenn, at one point you had another tank under your stand that was full of shells or something. Did you take that out? You mentioned it was going to be removed before.

I'm thinking you only have a small sump, skimmer, and dosing pumps on your show tank for "œfiltration". Filter wool on the return pump. Is this correct?
I had a DSB which i dismantled.
That is now my butterflyreef

Merry Christmas to you and yours Glenn.

Your just running skimmers on all these tanks for filtration and that’s it?

You recommend UV for tanks. What flow rates do you recommend?
Meaning, are you getting the sterilization flow rates or using it just for clarity?

Yes just skimmer, powerfilter , UV, (large reef also ozone).

4-6 channel dosing system

The sump won't get any more simple than this.

I appreciate your simplicity Glenn. Thank you for responding.

I'm trying to get some specific info on the simplicity. A UV for instance can be utilized in two ways. Sterilization or for water clarity. The flow rate dictates the benefits of the UV. So I was asking in which way you took advantage of the UV.

I have read that you list UV as a control for fish disease which would suggest that it's being used in a sterilization manner. However that kills good things as well. I'm not sure what your thoughts are on it.
You also have another tank (butterfly tank) plumbed into your big reef, right?

Set the time machine for a couple years ago, you and I conversed a bit through email about my old tank. I no longer have. Ozone was recommended against by you at that time. Have you changed your mind about ozone since then?

My new tank is up and running and my desire to run a tank using DSR has not changed. I still see a great method and want to employ it on this new tank. I want to learn the method. However I want to do it correctly.
I know not to ask of your recipes on any of the supplements and I never will.
However, I'd like to run the proper equipment and do so in the proper way.

Amazing tanks! I’m going to have to look closer at your methods. I already dose Ca, Alk, Mg and vinegar so it wouldn’t be too hard for me to add a couple more pumps and set up a test tank for myself.

Thanks m8.

UV and Ozone is primary to prevent itch outbreak. I lost may fish in the time i didn't use either of them.
So imo UV is mandatory when keeping fish in large quantities and confined places like an aquarium.

Flowrate is 200-800l/h and i use 18watt units

I don't really care for "good things" that are afloat. I care more about removing "bad things.
All good thing are plenty off around the substrate.

Butterflyreef, fragtank, QT tank are joint toghether on 1 sump. I can disconnect each of then at any moment if necessary.

I think you have me mixed up with someone else.
I was Always pro ozone. Look into my history: www.DSRreefing.com/history

To learn more about my method specificly you need to use google and search for
"GlennF reef" or "Glenn Fong reef"

Absolutely mesmerizing and the fish add a nice touch to the photos with the corals being the stars of the show. I hope my tank grows up like yours one day!
