I want to glue some rocks together, but I dont want poison my livestock. Any sugestions.I first tried Silicon I purchased from my LFS, but that didt bond w the rocks. I now bought super glue gel & it works, has my rocks bonded, but am afraid to introduce it to my tank.

I have used crazy glue gel which works well but it has to dry out of the tank so that it sticks. But it drys in a minute or two. Works great on SPS terrible on leathers or shrooms.

I have also used the epoxy and it says that you can use it underwater but I dont think so. Plan to take your stuff out of the water for like 10 min to dry.

Both have there purpose. both are reef safe. I have put them both in wet and all is well.

I've used epoxy under water a million and a half times to attach frags to rocks or rocks that frags are on to other rocks. Just mix the epoxy stick outside of the tank, let it set for a minute or two, then stick it in the tank when it starts to firm up. You just need to make sure you're applying it to two rough surfaces as it's not "sticky," it just holds into crevices.

So you actually apply it in the tank. I have found that it does not hold. I must be doing something wrong.

I mix the 2 part up good
let if start to firm up
put it into the tank and push it onto a rock.
tale the second rock with the frag attached and epoxy.
I hold them together for a minute
I go back later to find that they are loose.
I say "damm"..."damm-damm"
then I post my problems here looking for what I did wrong.

Epoxy is an acquired skill, you need to have a sense of how much in ratio to the frag size and you need to smooth the edges into the rock. Not all epoxy are the same, I use Deltec purchased online.

Thanks guys, all suggestions needed. This hobby is to pricey to be expirementing w out advice!!
Scratching the surface-soon the upgrade on the way.

As you said, mix up the 2 part, let it firm a bit, you have to notice that at first it's firm, then goes through a period of soft, then firms up again. It'll be a few minutes before it firms up. I don't usually hold stuff together to let it set, I usually just press whatever it is into the epoxy. You've got to make sure that there are crevices for the epoxy to grab into, otherwise you've got to wrap the epoxy over top edges to get it to hold stuff down, otherwise the rock can just come off if it doesn't have edges to grab, that's the whole idea of how it works and why you can't use it against glass and such, as it doesn't have any stickyness to it.
