I have dual overflows each have slip bulkheads. Do you glue your return line in or how to you make it fit tightly? I noticed there was a small "leak" from there since I'm filling up the DT for the first time and water was coming in the sump from the return line.
IF it leaks underwater, no problem. If it leaks out in air, not so good. But in general, preserve 'slip' joints unglued where possible, because you may someday need to change out pipes or do other repair.
Are you saying the leak is on the slip fit into the bulkhead external to the tank? If external it should be glued, I wouldn't ever trust a friction fit there. If it is inside the overflow then a friction fit is fine.
I glue all external connections and utilize unions if I need to disassemble.
