All of the sudden my apex stopped sending me email alerts and I cannot seem to fix it anyhelp would be highly appreciated!

I went to GMX and at the bottom I saw they are now advertising as using SSL which I thought they didn't do? Is this a problem? Thanks!

GMX has always supported use of SSL; they just don't require it like some other mail services.

How did you determine that the Apex is not sending? Or is this just based on not receiving any alarm emails? There is a big difference :)

You need to do the mail diagnostic using telnet. See the Email Troubleshooting section on page 17 of the Apex manual. The procedure is also in the Unofficial guide on, page 27.

Copy and post the output here.

Yeah, can't get mine to work either....worked once two nights ago on a test and hasn't worked since...planning on doing the telnet thing tonight when I get home

Builder guy, I am trying to get this figured out in my thread. Not trying to be rude but dont hijack my threat lol. They can help you after me.

LOL...no worries...just having the same problem with mine and I'm using gmx.com too...hoping they could kill two birds, you know what I mean.

Anyway, more tagging along then anything.

Weird...my emails just came through.

I don't know if it was from the "email test" or forcing the email outlet to manual ON in the status.

(Sorry Atticous...just trying to have us all get to a solution)

any problems with with Time warner aqua?

Yes. For some reason their DNS servers won't recognize GMX. Try this for your DNS server:

Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

Those are free DNS servers from Google. Should work. Remember to reboot the controller after you make the network changes.

Note to Builderguy and Atticous:

A dynamic name service like DynDNS is not the same as a DNS server - more like different sides of the same coin. A DNS server will relate a single host name to an IP address. Every ISP provides DNS services otherwise you couldn't access the Internet with names.

A Dynamic DNS service like DynDNS is a separate service where they keep track of changing IP address and relate that to a static hostname they provide for you.

DNS services are free from your ISP or within your company. Dynamic DNS is typically a fee-based service.

Got it...so DynDNS has a fee ($30/yr approx) to be able to keep track of a changing IP address so that you can create hostname for the Apex. Is that right?
