If baking soda proves to be the cause, I'll be the first to tell everyone all about it. But....I've been using baking soda for about 2 years now, and only had cyano issues the past few months.
Hmmmm......I also have a small outbreak of cyano in a little area of my tank. I've been using NSW for water changes and wondering if that had anything to do with it. I also dosed some phyto for the first time a few weeks ago too.
I'm wondering if there might be a common denominator here too!!! (and I don't use baking soda)
At least for me, baking soda is not my cause. I dont dose it.
I dont believe phyto is a problem either. When i first bought the tank used, it came with a large quanity of phyto which i dosed for several months until it ran out and had no cyano.

When I first bought my tank used, it came with a large quantity of cyano... would have preferred to have the phyto... :lol:
