Gofor's 60"L X 30"W X 24"T LeeMar Upgrade

that does suck about the delay, and I would probably have the discussion about some sort of discount due to the scratch and the delay.

Although, I would not get too worked up about it, keep the big picture in sight, you are going to have this dream tank for years and years, so what is another couple of weeks of waiting besides some minor inconviences?

If you havent already, take this time to get that dry rock into some tubs and start curing it. Might as well get a head start on that.

Yeah... it doesn't sound like they are open to any type of discount or trying to own up to their mistake (which is really why I'm frustrated).

I am trying to keep my perspective "big picture", but then I start thinking that if they had never sent my tank with a big scratch in it, then I would probably be done with the cycle by now... then I get ****ed again. :headwalls:

I'll find stuff to do, but I'll probably just do non-tank related stuff for a couple of days to get my mind off of it.

We'll see...

One of the guys in our club has two large Miracles tanks...an 8 foot 300 gallon and 5 foot square by 30 inch 450 gallon semi-cube. He said the wait was longer than he was initially quoted as well.

If you read back on custom glass tank builds, one thing I see almost always is consistant.....a longer time to get the tank than was originally quoted. There are some real nightmare stories as well about designs not being what was originally spec'd out etc.

Bottom line is this...custom means one of a kind, which generally means longer than expected.

Sorry to hear about your delay.

Nick

Yeah... I was expecting a longer "wait-time" since mine was custom, but what really frustrates me is their "We'll get the tank to you when we get it to you even though we let it leave our warehouse with a large scratch and chipped brace" attitude. If they would've originally quoted me 2-3 months before, I would be fine with it. Also, I paid for good quality (which LeeMar is apparently known for), and I can't say that a chipped/scratched tank protrays this.

But alas, I'm in the situation I'm in, and there isn't really anything I can do about it now. So, I'll just take a day or so break from tank stuff to cool off and then get right back to it over the weekend.

Thanks for letting me vent guys!

Some good news to report...

Not only is my tank scheduled to come this weekend (an early Christmas present or late b-day gift... depending on how you look at it), LeeMar was very apologetic about how things went and gave me a little monetary kick-back to help with any trouble the delay has caused.

I'll hopefully be posting some FUN pics by next week if everything goes as planned...

Another unfortunate update... Another scratch and yet another delay. I'll let u guys know how things progress.

Another?!?! :headwally:

Yeah dude... HUGE bummer. But after a few days of cooling off, and them saying that it will be delivered "scratchless" this Friday (I'll believe it when I see it), I will hopefully get back on track with this build sooner rather than later.

Thanks,

Chad

Okay... not holding my breath, but LeeMar says they will give me another discount and that the tank will be delievered this Friday (I'll get it from the LFS on Saturday).

I hope the third time is a charm and I can get this thread/build back on track... Wish me luck!

Is this a problem with the shipper or LeeMar?

Possibly both... LeeMar claims that the first scratch and chipped brace was due to the shipper since the scratch was on the outside of the tank (although I guess LeeMar's packaging could've also been to blame). However, the second scratch was on the inside of the tank, which in no way can be blamed on the shipper (so LeeMar by default) since they don't have access to the inside of the tank.

Other than the fact that they keep sending me scratched tanks (which frustrates me to no end), I guess LeeMar has handled this okay (or better than some other manufacturers I've heard of at least). They have reduced the price and seem genuinely apologetic about this mess.

I hope by Saturday I can put all of this behind me and focus on my build.

Thanks,

Chad

Well apparently if the scratch is not deep it can be buffed out. But both of these scratches were deep enough to where they needed to replace the pane of glass. I'm getting the tank today so hopefully all of this will be a distant memory and I can move on to more fun topics :).

Thanks,
Chad

Alright... now for some GREAT updates!!!

The tank was delivered Christmas Eve... and it had NO scratches and looked beautiful.

We placed it on the stand (which has a piece of plywood and a cut-out of foam to further support the tank), and here it is (with the Christmas tree in the reflection).

Thanks,

Chad

I then started filling it for the leak-test... didn't want to be too happy yet until AFTER I knew it didn't have any leaks.

Luckily, it passed...

I didn't do too much on Christmas day (just drained the tank and installled the bulkheads/started a little on the plumbing). But today, I was able to start filling the tank with sand and rock.

First thing's first... put in the eggcrate where the rock is going to be.
