2 400w hamilton MH pendants with 400w hamilton 14k bulbs
3 SEIO 2600's
1 ASM G3 skimmer
1 aquatic systems design kalk reactor
1 kent 5g gravity drip system

the tank is a 120g 60l x 18w x 24h.. i will be running it open top

im gonna hang 1 mh on each side of the crossmember of the tank

i will have 1 seio back/low in the tank, blowing behind/under the rocks, 1 on each side of the tank blowing towards to rock, and my sump return colliding with it to create a more aggitated current..

asm g3 will be in a 30g rubbermaid sump (im gonna have a custom sump made soon) i cant have a bigger sump cuz my stand doesnt have enough space

i will use airhose tubing to drip from the kent 5g drip system into the kalk reactor.. then use the airhose with the drip controller from the reactor into the sump.. i think i will leave the reactor on 24/7 and drip slowly throughout the day.. as of now, i get about 1/2 gallon evap daily, and guessing that it will go up to about 2g daily with the halides..

is everything fine? any suggestions/comments? im ready to step into the world of sps keeping.. lol

i want to have the 400s since i plan on upgrading once i get the hang of how to properly maintain a reef.. and then i will use this tank as a prop tank.. the small space in the stand is really screwing me cuz it limits the size of my skimmer.. i wanted a g4x

check out the recirculating and gate vavle mods on the g3, i did them on mine, and it runs much better.

i hope i wont need a chiller.. the tank is in the basement and it keeps pretty cool in the summer too.. and i can hang the lights a little higher up since they r 400w

I would ditch the kalk reactor and get a calcium reactor If you are going to be running a SPS tank.

If your planning on upgrading then 400w lighting is fine.

As for the skimmer, as twon8 said, you can see about either getting a recirculating mod or gate vale mod. Many have reported that they get better skimming results.

If you have the space outside of the stand you can also get an external skimmer such as H&S, Deltec, or Euroreef. Remember, the bigger skimmer the happier you will be with your corals and fish!

i will eventually get a ca reactor.. just not now.. im just starting out.. i cant even comprehend how to setup a ca reactor.. i still need to fiddle with the skimmer since ive never used one before.. i dont know about all this bubble counting n all that..

A Calcium Reactor is one of the equipments that make tank matenence alot easier. All you need is the reactor, Co2 tank, bubble counter and the solenoid valve. Setting one of these up is not dificult, but rather easy. If you do a search for calcium reactor you should be able to grasp it's benefits and usage info.

Also, I'd save your kalk reactor because if you find that balencing your ALK and Ca levels, then you can hook it up and use it.

If you worry about heating issues then make sure you have those lights in a well vented area is several fans blowing on the water.

is there anywhere online that sells complete ca reactor setups?.. im not gonna get one for awhile but i jus wanna see what everything looks like

too late.. already ordered the skimmer and seios.. i will definately go tunze when i upgrade to a bigger tank in the future..

i will order the lighting next week most likely.. once i get my skimmer broken in..

how soon after i get a few frags would i need to start dosing?.. some people say that dosing isnt even required with frags.. is this true?

n more questions on my posts above..

If youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢re bigger tank that you plan on getting is < than 30 inches deep and < than 30 inches wide donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get the 400w MH stick to 250ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s

the tank is a 120g 60l x 18w x 24h.. i will be running it open top
Youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll need a chiller with that much light on a tank that size.

3 SEIO 2600's
Buy the right stuff now. Get the Tunze 2 X 6100 kit with controller, you can add 2 more latter

1 ASM G3 skimmer
Youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll need a bigger skimmer for sure.

1 aquatic systems design kalk reactor
As said before get a calcium reactor and drip kalk if necessary.

Get the tank you want now tanks are cheap. If you are buying equipment now for a bigger tank than you might as well get the bigger tank now as well. Donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t waist you time and money on the smaller one, unless you plan on moving or donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have the space.

is everything fine? any suggestions/comments? im ready to step into the world of sps keeping.. lol

Chiller 1/4-1/3 hp
Calcium reactor
RO/DI system

All the above is my opinion only and only my suggestions.

u don't need 400's even if u plan on using it as a prop tank later. with 400's u will need a chiller.. even w/ an open top. i would get tunze streams instead. i wish i did when i was buying all my $tuff. i'm getting ready to order1 now to add to my 6 MJ1200s.
- what kind of MH ballast? any actinic supplementation, VHO's preferably?

the 400w mh's have an hqi ballast... if i used 400w lamps i would use halide only and not supplement with actinic.. if i got 250s then i would supplement.. another reason why i want 400s.. keeps the area above my tank less cluttered with only the use of 2 lights instead of 2 lights plus vho..

and with 400s.. cant i keep the light higher off the waters surface so the water doesnt heat up/heat up as much
