Gold Assessor Basslet

I added 3 golds and 3 blues (randall's) from ORA in Feb this year. They seem to all get along, the golds are dominant over the blues but no real aggresssion. The golds are also larger than the blues at this time, all have grown quite a bit since I got them. I suspect the blues will still be smaller once they mature but I am guessing. Everyone else in the tank pretty much ignores them, and they bother no one. The yellows are out in the open all the time, the blues put in appearances throught the day but generally remain hidden. Interestingly, mine generally swim oriented like other fish, rarely sideways and so far never upside down. I kept a single yellow a few years ago, I thought it was dead for over a year because it never came out of hiding. They are much braver in groups it seems.

Old thread but had a question about this guy. We have had ours for a bout 4 months now he does send a lot of time in the cave he has claimed as his home. Starting a couple weeks ago we noticed he his losing is bright color and looking a little dull. He has been spending most of the day in the cave but does come out to eat at least two of the three feeding times and doe eat well. Recently he has been coming out more I think it is due to dimming the lights on the tank a bit to help control a little algae that is growing.

Any how has anyone noticed that there gold assessor has lost color in the past and if so any idea as to why?
Will he get his color back? Could it be from stress? Although he does not seem to be stressed and no recent changes to the tank other than new coral.

Any ideas would be apreaciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

A couple other things to add I guess that may be helpful.
He is eating plankton, brine shrimp, LPS feeding frenzy all frozen. We do also feed emerald delight but not sure if he is a big fan of that one.
He was also wild caught and the LFS said they had him for 3 months before we got him. He was in a tank with a couple clowns at the shop and they were beating him up pretty good. It took him a week or two to look 100% after we took him home.

I have a bunch of them and they eat a variety of foods and eat well, but their color did lose it's luster.

I ordered a 1/2 of live black worms, and with my wifes permission kept them in the fridge and fed them at least once a day for over a week, and the gold assessors color just popped. Not only the yellow but the red fringing on the lower fins was electric. Now I try to get some black worms to feed at least every 3 weeks, if not more frequently.

Thank you for the information. I checked the ingrediance on the LRS Reef Frenzy and black worms is listed. Not sure the ratio of course but just picked it up this week and have been feeding my tank with it for a few days. If I do not notice a difference in a week or so I will deffenitly try to find some to feed this guy to see if it help his color.
Thanks again!
