I like mine. It is real mellow for an angelfish and eats anything offered. Mine espcially likes mysis and Marine-A pellets. I'd say the key to getting one is avoid real small juvies or larger adults. These may have trouble feeding. Perfect size would be 3-6" IMO. For some reason, the tail on mine has been losing the black color over the last 18 months or so.

My local shop has had a smaller (3-4") one in their display for about a month now. This is the first one I have ever been able to look at closely for an extended period of time. It is now one of my favorite fish, I thnk people who have only seen these guys in pictures are missing out, these fish are awsome.

RBU1- Sorry that is'nt any help in keeping the fish, but good luck with yours and congrats!! If I had a bigger tank it would be on my list.

Thanks for all the pics. They look real nice.

Hairymushroom....... I thought there was only tang police. Now we have Angel Police!!!!!! DARN...... Listen it is my tank my perogitive and all the research I have done suggest's a GFA will be fine in a 75. So if my thread was started to ask if a GFA was good in a 75 gallon tank then I would appreciate your response but it's not. The reason for my post was to get pictures and see how everyone likes the fish. So please keep your opinion in regaurds to tank size to yourself........ THANKS

Mine is up to about 8". Bought from a local guy who had him for a couple of years. I think he was only about 4" when he bought him.

Goldflakes are great angels. Most of the stories I have heard is that they are reef safe. Mine is not SPS safe. That is why the guy sold him.

hairymushroom.....no offense take. MHO. any fish put into a tank will never grow to their full size that they can reach in nature. I have seen a 4 inch clown tang in a 532gal tank and in 4 years that fish has maybe grown 2inchs and is still very healthy. I know others out there think Im totally wrong, but thats why I said MHO..lol The goldflake will outgrow a tank that small, but it will take many many years to do so.

I also have a smaller GF angel and he is an SPS nipper. It's fine though, no permanent damage cause he nips on all of them.

Thought I would put this out there since some people would freak out if they bought a fish that started to nip their SPS corals.

In the same tank there is also a Golden pygmy and Magnificent foxface that are also SPS nippers. That's 3 in one tank but my SPS corals are doing fine. (GF angel is the worst out of the three though)

I bought mine locally in a LFS.
I was purposely looking for one on the smaller size so that my Regal angel would still be dominant in the tank.

Mine's was small, maybe 2.25" for $199

If the tail coloration is fading, there is some nutritional element missing. Do you feed Nori or equivalent? Also Angel Formula for sponge content.

Yes, I do feed nori, new life soaked in selcon and angel formula, along with mysis, lifeline green and several others. I don't think it is nutrition related because otherwise the fish is fine - the yellow is yellow the lips are blue and the spots are golden.

Very strange. These are regarded as a tough fish that is easy to maintain with proper diet. I had one for a long time before converting my tank.
