Gold Maxima Help....

I bought a small(3") gold maxima & during transport & when I placed it in my tank I noticed what I believe to be it's foot, coming out the bottom of it's shell. I placed it on a rock in my 46gallon with 6x39 t5's. When I woke up the next day I saw that the foot had fallen off completely. This was probably about a week ago, it seems to be doing okay but isn't as open as my crocea which is in the same tank. It does react when fish swim over but I'm not sure if it's going to make it. It seems to be attaching where I put it, towards the bottom of the tank, probably about 18" from the light. Anyone have this happen before(the foot)? Should I move it up higher or just leave it be for now & hope it survives? Any feedback would be appreciated......

as long as the clam dropped the foot on his own ( not damaged by the LFS ) then the clam should be just fine. you can't compare the mantle extension of a maxima to crocea, they're different species and present themselves differently. if you're worried about the mantle extension, please post a pic.

I'm not worried about the mantle extension so much, thanks for the input. Do you think I should move it up higher on the rockwork? I'm just a little worried about messing around with it too much....

what bulbs are you running??

the Nova fixtures don't have individual reflectors ( please correct me if i'm wrong ) so i would definitely move the clam up higher in the tank.
