Gold Spotted Foxface

The dots on the body and also the body color. your foxface has brown spots on it and is a light tan kind of color. While the punctatus has orange spots and blueish color body around the dots. They have the same body shape just not the same colors i guess.

I suspect it could easily come down to lighting conditions and camera settings, in that case. You may be right, but I'm not convinced either way.

From what I can tell:

brownish yellow on tan = stellatus
Gold on blue = punctatus
orange on tan/blue with yellow spot near tail = guttatus

I should note that not only are these labeled incorrectly not only at many LFS but also online a lot at stores, photo sites, etc. If you google search one, pictures of the others seem to come up.

Not talking down your fish or anything - it looks great! Good picture too.

Keep in mind that my tank has 10k lighting and no actinic supplementation right now... there's some blue and a bit of a more intense gold/orange when the actinics are running.

I'm not offended at all, and I love Darlene (for that is the fish's name) just the same either way. :)

I dont think you should be offened at all you have a beautiful fish. But i dont think the lighting is going to do much to change the colors of the whole fish.
