I was looking at adding a mate for my maroon gold striped clown. I found a website that has advertised a yellow striped clownfish. Is it the same thing or are they two totally different types
Likely the same. They don't have a pic? Look for latin names-- Premnas biaculeatus-- is the maroon clown both white stripe and gold stripe. If the site doesn't list latin names I would not shop there. Vivid has gold stripes in stock--- http://www.vividaquariums.com/c-534-clownfish.aspx
Be aware that pairing Maroons can be quite difficult.
It is difficult for sure, if you accomplish it I would like to know how. I have a 300 and I can only have one clown period with the maroon I have she kills any clown.
I did some research. Looks like the best way to do it is wait for fenale to get 3plus inches and add a juvi. Keep tgr juvi submerged in a specimen box that allows for water flow and let him out for a few min once a week until tge aggresion goes away

I have tried this approach, main problem I had when you let them out it is pretty hard to get them back in the box especially when the female is chasing him.
