Golden Tonga blenny?

I recently purchased a golden tonga blenny from a LFS and was wondering what to feed him? He won't eat any kind of frozens, he is constantly sucking on the glass and rocks for algae?

He hasn't ate for about 2-3 weeks?

If it wasn't getting an adequate amount of food it would be dead by now. You could try covering a rock with nori seaweed if you don't think it is getting enough algae from your glass and rocks.

Really I'm just confussed on what they eat? There really isn't much known about these little guys.

Thats a good looking fish. I have a Tongan Fang blenny, that is also yellow, and thought yours might be one too. Yours looks similar to a sailfin blenny. I agree with the above, you might try nori or maybe some other algea based foods.

I have one as well. Atrosalarias fuscus. All it does is go around and eating the algae on the glass and rocks and its stomic is good and round! Cool little fish! I like them due to the fact that they arent very common! Ive had mine over 6 months and it has been nothing but a pleasure in my reef! They are usually in the Divers Den on LA

I recently got one from the Diver's Den part of LA. Haven't seen him eat any prepared foods yet, but still has a nice little gut on him.

I've heard of people having luck with feeding lawnmowers Spectrum pellets. Maybe try that?

How long have you guys had those yellow blennies? I read that A. fuscus was yellow as a juvenile and black as an adult.

I have had mine for a month now. So, you might be right, and you might be wrong. I will try to let you know in a year or two. But, that would be neat if that happened.

Reef Aquarium Fishes by Scott Michael, page 300: "The juvenile A. fuscus is bright yellow over the head, body and fins, while adults are dark brown to black. It will attain a length of about 5.5 inches..." It has a picture of your cute little yellow fish and a picture of a larger black adult. Also says it is a grazer of filamentous algae, forams, detritus and sand, among other small things. Says to offer it frozen foods that contain spirulina, but if yours is constantly grazing on the rocks I wouldn't worry about it as long as his belly is not sunken.

Great, thanks. Think that is one book that I don't have.

I do offer food that contains spirulina, and a fellow reefer gave me a packet of the powdered version of it. So far s/he is grazing enough to keep the belly full.

I don't have the same Blenny, but my Starry gets dried seaweed cut into bite sized pieces and soaked in tank water until it's soft. Then I aim it in his direction with a turkey baster. He's thriving.
