After suspending for 3 years, I've decided to go reefing again. This time I will keep more sps. Just bought a new 180 gal with 2 overflow boxes glass tank in the beginning of June. Currently I am cycling the water with my old live rocks and some base rocks.

Rockin the Maxi Jets. I am using them to. Looking forward to see it grow. The stand looks nice.

2 more powerheads and the light fixture are installed. Still cycling ...

Cycling is completed in 7 days with the help of old live rocks. However, I spend the next month battling the green hair algae. Good news is they are under control and diminishing.

Some soft corals that survive the ordeal are blooming again.

3 SPS frags are added and are doing well.

A refugium is also set up with chaeto and SeaChem denitrite.

Are you attempting this with no protein skimmer?

This is a bare bottom tank. The main filter is a wet dry filter supported by a protein skimmer.

You're putting youself at a disadvantage using a wet/dry and such a small skimmer for that large tank. That goes especially for an SPS diminated tank. Just a friendly heads up...

Yeah, that would be my primary concern. Im my opinion there's just no good reason to run a wet/dry in a reef. This coming from someone that did it for years back when it was the norm.
