Yeah, can you believe that was taken as we were puling away? We were already 45 min late - but who cares..could you have better light than that! Incredible.
I think full grown males can be 11' +. However, it is the subadults that are the real problems. Teenagers so to speak. Curious, looking for trouble and always testing things out.
These were taken in Katovick Alaska (not by me).
Misled - Too funny, I was thinking the same thing when I saw it (was he running for his Tripod

When I told friends I was going up there they sent me these shots and wished me good luck. Nice friends, aye? (LOL))

considering the rarity of your subject.. i think we can overlook the highlight! And i second Marc's opinion, dont delete them! You sure had primo lighting for shooting... Klepto - Monterey ain't too bad of a place. I loved it up by Mt Shasta though. Even up by the Redwoods. Yosemite, as nice as it is got old for me. I have never made it to Mt Whitney (I think that's what it's called) in Cali but the pics I've seen of it make it look pretty impressive. Real rugged and just beautiful. Though, Alaska is number one in my book currently. Enough so that I moved here!
You know, we were a little late in the season to Churchill. Tthe Bay was freezing up and a lot of the bears ad left. That being said, the ones we did see were real inquisitive and animated. The guide said that night was the nicest light of the season. Too bad it wasn't a "photo" tour. I am sure they would have stayed longer because the light and sunset colors were really perfect. That last photo - can you believe I had to ask the driver to back up? He had pulled up on top of the bear so much that he put the bear and surrounds in shadow. Jeeze...

melev - You lucky man. It must have been spectacular. I love those gnarly looking spires and peaks. Never did get to that spot.
Here is a shot of Mt Shasta from a while ago. Speaking of Mt. Shasta and the Area. Does anyone happen to know the name of the waterfalls that are not far from there? I know, not much to go on. These have tons of little seperate lines and dropways to them with lots of moss on the rock. If someone knows them they will for sure know which I am talking of. I think they are fairly often photographed.

I agree on Monterey, in fact I'm heading there in a few hours.
Yosemite never gets old for me. By the end of the year I'll have spent over 50 days in the park. I don't, however, spend much time in the normal tourist locations. I work really hard to take pictures that aren't the "normal" Yosemite shots. From May-September I avoid the valley entirely; too many people. I spend my visits, during those months, in the backcountry where you might see 5 people in 5 days. The other bonus is that you wake up in the morning and get to have your first cup of coffee in places like here:

Nice Beerguy! good choice on a day- the sun is shining and the sky is cloudless here in Carmel atm. Im headed to the aquarium today before it is open to the public for free all next week.
