Goniopora or Alveopora

LFS says Goniopora, by the pinuals I see I'm thinking Alveopora. Issue is that it will not extend (so not 100% sure). New t5 (8x54) located at the bottom of 75gal. Was thinking flow problem so moved to calm corner, when lights went out and moonlights were illuminating, i had extension of approx 1/8" to 1/4". This morning when moon lights came back on (5:45) same (did not recede after lights out), at lunch with all 8 t5's, closed up tight. I moved it to a shaded area under an overhang away from flow... any words of advice ... anyone... Thank You in advance.

they dont do well as a rule but there are people that have had great luck with them keeping them over 5 years and still healthy. i have heard that the trick is over feeding your tank but at the same time haveing a oversize filtration system.

one of our local Guru's swears that the "red" (rust colored) seems to fair the best. But, in genreral, they have a poor extended survival rate for most.

Yes... based on the non-extended pinuals (tips) I believe that it is an alveopora... but the shop worker said "some type of Goniopora".. just checked with wife, she says that after moving it to a shaded area it has begun to extend again... will see how this location works over the next few days. I am currently using reef soultions, feeding daily. I have a Lifereef sump and 24" skimmer... that is all the filtration I have going at this time. 10 gal refugium...
