So I recently got a gonipora and my common clown will not leave it alone. constantly rubbing and brushing. Will it get used to this and stop shrinking away or will this stress it out to much? Or will the clown get bored and stop?
IME any of those things you listed can happen. If the clown doesn't stop or the flower pot doesn't get used to it and start opening up - you may have to separate them.
Also - I hate to be the one to tell you this but that is not a good beginner coral. They can have a very short lived lifespan in aquariums and you really need to read up now on how to best take care of it

strange you guys had problems with clowns hosting your gonis. my pair of true percs aggressively hosted a goni for four months before i transferred the clowns to a new tank. in that time the goni was fine and even dropped a bud <--- not the clowns ripping off tissue, actual skeleton and flesh whole new coral. the only thing with gonis is making sure they have enough to eat.
