Gooches tank 150g

Christmas favia grows slowly and doesn't like too much light. The sharp cut edges from fragging have grown over the sides.

Zooanthids filling in this rock but the pink one is taking over. I also find the older, original polyps not as vibrant in color as the newer polyps.

sunset monti really took off once I got rid of phosphates and hair algae

My 2 percula clowns I started with have survived the year as well as the mystery wrasse.

Congradulations on a year of growth and surviving your pest issues. May the next year be even better, just have to control those impulse buys :)

I love your tank size. If I can ever afford to upgrade I'd like to get the same size tank that you have.

Here is the latest FTS.

I am still plagued by Montipora eating nudbranches. Just when my monti's get growing well, they are beaten back by these nudi's. So annoying and impossible to get rid of because they are making their way too all the montipora colonies.

I siphoned them off this sunset monti and here is the damage it's done

Pest I've controlled are hair algae and pyram snails on the clam. Clams are doing great.

I've developed cyano on this colony of zoos. I haven't had a chance to just remove the rock and scrub it off.

I added NP biopellet reactor 6 weeks ago and it seems to have helped keep the hair algae away. I got the cyano after starting the biopellets.

Love the growth shots. Looks like there is some color loss from those shots while in the FTS the corals all look well colored?

Have you had any problems with placing the PM in your canopy? How do you have you canopy vented?

The canopy is 14 inches high and the back is completely open. ATI sits about 8 inches above the water surface and I still bleach LPS. I run 6 bulbs 6 hours and all 8 for 2 hours in the middle. I have no probs with the fixture in the canopy. I also have 2 fans blowing air in on one end from the back.

Your tank is looking really nice! I wish mine was spotless like yours is :)

Hey Ink, haven't heard from you in a while. Thank you, but it's taken a lot of work to clean up and it seems that I've used every method to get it there including biopellets reactor. Sometimes I think all the hair algae and cyano issues I had are all just part of the cycling process. I'm leaving for 17 days to the Philippines and we'll see what it looks like after that.

I took the growth shots with my underwater olympus with a flash and hence washed out the color. My photographic skills are no where near yours. I can never seem to capture the color right. Corals have grown even more. I seem to do better with sps.

I have almost the exact same setup as you, would you go with the 6 bulb instead of the 8 if you had to do it again?

Yes, either 6 bulb or 4 ft instead of 5 so I can keep LPS in front or sides. Right now, I've covered one end of the tank with layers of screen material to shade the LPS. That seems to be working.

Less than 2 weeks before her 16th birthday looks like we'll be losing our sweet Gooch. She hasn't eaten and has had very little to drink in the past week. She has clamped her jaw shut when we try hydration using a syringe. She is so weak now. The vet will come tomorrow at 1pm:(
