Good changes at Wet Pets

To be honest, the only thing I saw in there that was worth $30 was a nice big frag of Purple Haze Monti. He said he would be ordering some high end stuff soon, but who knows how expensive that will be.

Just noticed the first post... Hey Ray, did they ever make the switch to the LED lighting? That's a pretty bold move for an LFS IMO.

Did anybody notice that several of the sellers at the frag swap had LED lights - so good color and low wattage = great stuff!! When the price comes down the rest of us may be able to use them.

A Reef Creation was using LED's (they had LEDs last year on their setup as well), but I believe most of what they had were LPS (Scoly's, Acans, Chalices), which in my experience can basically be grown in the dark (less than 100 PAR) and most look better the bluer the spectrum. Also, I didn't look at the ratio of blues to whites... but can imagine there weren't many whites in the mix. They definitely had some primo stuff, and it all looked amazing.

I really don't think there's a question anymore whether coral can live under LEDs, and the blue LEDs really seem to pop some crazy colors. However, I'm going to be interested in the growth rates/colors with regards to SPS as more "hobbyists" make the transition and we begin to see some sustained results.

I was in there last week and two of their smaller tanks in the back had already been switched to LED. They mentioned more were on the way any day. The lighting looked pretty good I'll have to say but a little less intense for my taste. On the flip side I'm sure it costs a lot less to operate.
