Good deal?

Not sure but I wouldnt buy it unless you know someone that has one and loves it. Buying it sight unseen may not be a good idea. There are a lot of people selling crap on Ebay. i own a 6 stage RO/DI from Bulk Reef Supply.

+1 for Bulk Reef Supply...
or look at The Filter Guys for an inexpensive RO/DI unit that many people on RC use...(I use their filter cartridges) just my $.02 ;)

I started out with one of those ebay units. After I altered the horizontal DI chambers into a vertical one and changed out the membrane, it would have been better for me to pay a little extra in the beginning to get a decent RODI.

I bought one for my uncle and hate it, it is a POS. white canisters so i can't see anything, JACO fittings a PITA, cheap membrane, and an expensive to maintain DI canister

Why did you have to change the membrane?

I have one and am happy with it. It does have white canisters, but I change the pre-filters every 6 months and don't need to see the filters anyways. I did buy an add-on 10 inch DI container and ditched the horizontal ones. I DIY'd a carbon reactor with the old containers. It's been a while since I checked my RO TDS, but I was getting about 600 to 650 in and 12 to 15 before DI.

Why did you have to change the membrane?

After making about 200 gallons of water, the TDS started going over 25. I changed out the prefilter, carbon, and altered the DI chambers, but the TDS was still high. My incoming water is about 160, and the product water was around 10 - 15 after the changes so I figured it had to be the membrane. After I changed out the membrane, the product water is around 2 - 4.

160 TDS incoming water isnt bad at all. You should be getting thousands of gallons of water out of that membrane.

That's what I thought. It must have been a defective membrane.

Have you contacted the seller with this membrane issues?
Did they replaced it on warranty or you had to pay for it?

I just chalked it up as a loss.

I haven't read all the posts but I will say that any unit that offers a HORIZONTAL DI cartridge is junk... period.
