Anyone got any ideas for flow in my 75g with a 30g . I have 2 maxi 900s now and I think I need more.
Jeff:
I'd echo austin93's suggestion to consider Tunze nanostreams. Tunze is expensive compared to Hydor's offering, but has a 2 year warranty + it's fully serviceable so you will never have to throw one away to buy a whole new unit. Replacement parts are even reasonably priced. This makes the single-speed nanostreams (and streams 2's for that matter) probably the most economical option in the long run. Maybe the short run too - they're a very solid product in many respects.
I'm running a pair of 6045's in my 38 gallon reef....sounds like a lot, but I think you'll actually be able to get a lot more out of them in a four foot tank. That extra space lends more momentum to the water moved by the nanostream.

My tank is cramped and it's hard to generate much momentum at all, so I ended up needing two. (I really need to re-re-stack my rocks...

)
I predict a pair of 6045's in your 75 gal would be very nice. Easy to add a third or fourth later as the tank grows in. Or even sell the two and trade up to a Tunze Stream 2 (options from 1700 gph to 3100gph under $270) or even a fully controlled Tunze or Vortech if you *really* feel like upgrading. :smokin:
To me the economy (2 for about $210 for 2400 gph total) and performance (all around) of the 6045's put them in a sweet spot...adding one or more as needed (if needed) in the future is an alright strategy.
BTW, about $280 will get you a Tunze 6055 with their Single Controller - fun, very useful combo. Similar price and performance (at least in terms of gph) to the Vortech mp10. (I prefer the aim-ability of the Tunze's personally, but the Vortech's are a solid product too.)

P.S. If the Sure Flo mod kits work on your Maxi Jet's, that makes another option worthy of consideration. (I'm not sure.)
