Setting up a 40B. going to be LPS dominate. Im a NOOB and have no idea what a good recommended fish food for clowns is and for corals. I plan to have a pair of clowns, euphyllias, xenia, maybe a leather, anemeone...hopefully "easy" care beginner animals. looking for a quality food for these as i would like to watch growth and have good colors. hopefully someone can share some of those to just down right stay away from. TIA!

i like a variety.

my staples include nori for my grazers, new life spectrum pellets for everyone, PE myses (frozen), cyclop-eeze (frozen). nutramar-ova, when i can get my hands on it.

live foods include live black worms and baby brine shrimp nauplii.

as far as brands, Piscene Energetics (the PE in PE myses), Argent, Rod's Food, New Life Specturm, really any of the major brands.

LRS frozen > Rod's. There are a bunch of different blends to make sure everything in your tank is happy.

I agree. The two main foods I use for my reef are New Life Spectrum Pellets and PE Mysis. Both have been great for me.

I rotate among Hikari mysis, Rod's Food, LRS Reef Frenzy and NLS Pellets (0.5mm and 1.0mm). My herbivores get nori daily.

Have a big mix of fish in our tank.

Morning:
Mysis, Formula 1 & 2 Flakes, Spectrum small and large pellets, Selcon

Noon:
Nori with Selcon

Evening:
Rods (Original / Predator / or Fish Only), Formula 1 & 2 Flakes, Spectrum small and large pellets, Spirulina, Spectrum Thera + A pellets, Selcon

I have been feeding Omega One Veggie Pellets, Ocean Nutrition prime reef flakes (sometimes i mix in formula 1/2 as well).

Then i also feed my own frozen mix which includes, Squid, Octopus, Shrimp, Fish, Brine Shrimp, Mysis shrimp, etc.

I feed one large feeding of frozen every other day. I feed a mix of flakes/pellets about 4/5 small feedings per day.

A sheet of Nori gets rubber banded to a shell 1-2 times a week.

And for torch, hammer frogspawn

A good coral food. Zooplankton/Phytoplankton. Although i rarely feed coral specific food. Maybe once every couple weeks. I do however feed my own frozen blend every other day, and im sure my corals feed quite a bit from those feedings. I know there are other reefers that feed coral specific foods regularly as they do their fish, so you will find different opinions on this as well.

Do you mind sharing your blend.

My frozen blend, or the coral food?

My frozen blend varies. I have listed some of the things that go in the mix previously in this thread. It kind of depends whats on sale for what gets thrown in the mix. Get to know the people at your local seafood counter. It can save you money. I just make up a large batch and use it until gone, then mix up another batch.
