Good idea for this section...

Take a look at TeddyB's thread about Nuclear Greens.
Thank God, I've been throwing this idea around to Skipper and bugging him a few times. I think it's a GREAT idea. One thread for each, with pics and all the husbandry associated from many sources, from each of you that owns that particular polyp.
That way, noone will have to search for info on their polyp.

And Teddy is doing it perfectly; He's starting with the leading post with a pic, and writing down each topic of info related to keeping a kind if zoa or paly.
Can you all imagine if we kept rolling like this for all of them?
It would rock.

I didn't want to post in Teddy's thread because keeping these zoa type threads clean and organized is what we're going for, yes?

Thank you Teddy, you are my soulmate.

Also, it's more organized because there won't be 100 posts and threads about purple hornets. Like Skipper started that huge 20 page thread about African Blues.
Everything, every comment, every problem anyone's run into with that type of zoa is in that one thread.

Makes it easier for people who are just coming in here (or anyone if us for that matter) to FIND stuff, instead of wading through a million posts on the same polyp with bits and pieces all over the place.

The only way this is going to have a chance of working (and rocking) is if people search
before posting.
Yes? No? Thoughts? Comments, critiques?

Thanks lilly. Means a lot coming from you. I was imagining a coralpedia type site but with care instructions and not just pictures. If anyone has done particularly well with a zoa they should start a thread too and just copy the format.

It's like we share the same brain lol. I've asked about that here but I couldn't put in a way that the mods could understand what the heck I was trying to say. I'm horrible at that.
But Yes! I absolutely agree, alphabetical stickies. I asked about them either being stickied, or even built/moved into the current ID section here. Just maybe rearrange it a bit only. When I asked about it the forum had not been upgraded so maybe the new software forum upgrade does allow for that now?
Dunno, someone should ask again though.
That would be SWEET! :-)

Or a "reference guide" sticky and within a list of polyp links in alphabetical order. I guess that is something the mods would have to do.

Absolutely, that's a great idea TeddyB
Maybe one or more of us could make the "leading" post in the polyp posts/threads, and provide the mod(s) with the links and he or she could could do their moderator magic and sticky that reference post with the links as you said.
I know they must be crazy busy now but maybe they can let us know.

Im not really forum savvy, but I can keep making more reference guides and I would love if someone could organize the sticky.

No, but someone here is helping me to make that happen. I'm fortunate that there are such briiliant and kind people like that here on RC.
I can't wait to use your reference guide! :-)

*clears out the tumbleweeds*
These reference threads are for others to contribute to also, right?

I know regulars here have Nuclear Greens and AOG. And I know newer members do too. Because I've seem pics of them.

I was wondering why the regulars who supposedly know what they're doing, aren't posting on them to help. Maybe they're not here anymore. I know some have gone.
Maybe the members left still don't know how it's supposed to work. Or they're choosing not to answer for whatever reasons. Cuz I know they see the threads because I see folks on here.

I still think they should get rid if this zoa section. It's not a forum,
it's a forum substitute.
With absentee ballot regulars.

Oh well, it's sad. Some members comes in here thinking they/we can make a
difference, but it's more than clear that this section is toast.

People are trying, and not only that but it's good work too.

Maybe we need a coffee bar in here, lol.

See this section http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=139
See the top? Polls/sticky/reference guide for each type of fish. If you read one of them there is everything you wanted to know about each one, including how long each person has kept it, and even problems that can crop up with that particular fish, and how to make them grow.
Way cool.

So that section is what this zoa section would be like with the zoa/paly reference guides.
