Good LFS?

Hi All,

I will be visiting a friend in Pittsburgh this weekend and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for a good fish store in the area?

There have been numerous threads on this forum on the "best " local fish store- depends on what you looking to do. Buying , looking, browsing, fish or coral, etc. where are you staying - noth or east or south or west of the city? example= "Seahorse" is located north of Pittsburgh which is about 60 minutes from "Wet Pets" which is located south of Pittsburgh.

close to Aquaworld. Nice corals...bad store presentation. Also close to Wet Pets...probably the nicest display room in the area...really good for fish...decent LPS last time I was there, and a cool 400 display reef....but not much else.

Elmers might be closer for West Mifflin though, which is in Monroeville. It has a smaller but more diverse selection, better selection of creatures rather than coral, IMO. It is also where our local reef society holds meetings.

They're all three probably about the same....of course in 3 opposite directions The nicest store I've ever been in was in the back of a strip mall out in Seattle...nothing here in Pittsburgh held a candle to that place for coral stuff.

for corals def. aquaworld, just dont expect a user friendly store. elmers is probably the better bet for fish, although aquaworld is still the only place i've seen to have an achilles tang in stock.

Will be in West Mifflin.

Well, the closest place to West Mifflin is Atlantis on rt 51, probably 10 minutes or less away.

I haven't been there in several months, not even sure if they are still open.

They have strange hours and there are some people on here that do not like the owner, I personally haven't had any issues with him at all.

Was just a Wet Pets on Wednesday and they were unpacking a big shipment of fish, so they should be pretty stocked up.
Aquaworld received a shipment of corals and fish at the beginning of last week. Will be getting more stuff in on a regular basis now too.

AQUAWORLD has NO coral!!!!!!

I was just in there....store has gone downhill with the coral.

Yeah i was pretty disappointed with aquaworld, I stopped in on wednesday. They are getting some different saltwater fish but that was about it. Coral looked the same crap they always have.

I drove past atlantis last week and it looked open. But thats all I can add to that.
