is oceanic and edge good brand for mask and snorkel?

looking to buy a few snorkeling masks, for when i go on vacation this summer.

Oceanic is reputable. Haven't heard of edge. I've been using this one fr a while ad like it ScubaPro ClueVue 2

I've been using a Clearvue

Right now I have by far my favorite mask I've ever owned in my 34 years of diving.
A Mares X vision
I've never had a mask fit and seal so well, even when I have a goatee.
But everyone is different, so I advise putting many on, check for comfort, seal, easy nose pinch for clearing, and low profile.

The best mask is the mask that fits your face the best. Everyone's faces are different so to get a good mask your going to have to test them out in the store. If possible find a local dive shop and try on the mask and do this my pushing the mask on your face without the strap and the one that stays the best and feels most comfortable get.

By the way, I use the OMER alien mask for deep freediving and it works well. But also check out IST, Riffe, or Cressi.

Good advice, the best mask is the one that fits properly. That said I also use mares x vision, and a x vision liquid skin. They also have corrective lens you can pop in yourself for these.

Edge is Hog's cheaper range gear, both Hog and Edge are good. With a mask though just buy local and try one till you find a proper fit.

Yes, that is a good point about corrective lenses. Some masks have lenses with replaceable optics, but most masks can be sent off and have corrective optics glued in. This actually works very well.

And lastly, when you find that mask that fits perfectly (and especially if you have corrective lenses in it), take care of your mask. I see people all the time who are pretty cavalier about throwing their mask around on the dive boat. Eventually, it will get broken if you don't take care of your mask. Easy way to ruin a couple of dives, or a whole trip if you have corrective lenses.

+1 The x vision is a fantastic mask. Best I have ever dove with.

Also, if you are going to be using the mask mostly for snorkeling, and if you are doing it in a tropical location, I would seriously consider one in black (instead of transparent) silicone. The transparent masks annoy the hell out of me for snorkeling as the sunrays pass through the sides and reflect from the glass directly into your eyes.

+1, I use a Riffe for freediving and scuba, great mask. For any snorkeling a low volume mask really helps stay down longer :)

I wear an oceanic mask and it's been amazing, however my wife wears a mares liquid skin mask and it feels great too...best to do is check them out at a local store similar to what everyone has indicated, best fit for you is the best mask for you.

Check, test, double check, double test. Both my wife and I purchased a mares liquid-skin. Felt great. took them to a pool to test them out (twice) and they were great. On my first dive at 90 feet water started pouring in and never stopped. Back to a pool to try and it never sealed again. Same thing happened to my wife about 6 dives later. I ended up with an Atomic, my wife and Oceanic. Having good luck with both.

This is rule number 1 as far as masks go, always purchase one with black not clear due to glare.

I currently use this mask

Works fantastic for me but any mask must fit your face well to work correctly.

good point IMO the black silicone also feels softer on my face, and they always fit me better.

I have this same mask and love it. I mean, I'd probably marry it if I wasn't already taken. Haha, but seriously. Most comfortable mask I've worn. It's low volume, so clearing it requires very little effort and the field of vision is amazing.

I had a Sea See before the Atomic and I think it held a gallon of water. Plus it was a '4 window' type, which I wouldn't recommend. The side windows offered some interesting distortion effects.

i dive an OTS guardian! they're awesome by the way, i definitely reccomend them. revolutionised diving for me.... :)

i used to dive a technisub ventura which i still take down if i think i might need to see if i have to go to my secondary...

i only good things to say about that mask because it fits my face

i think keyskid offered the ultimate advise on scuba masks, it really depends what fits your face

I have a pair of Mares Hydra mask, a pair of Cressi Big Eye Evolution mask and a pair of Scubapro (forgot exactly what model). The Scubapro leaked so badly on me when I dove in a local quarry that I nearly threw it away. I didn't have any problem with the Mares mask when i dove in Curacao. The Cressi was used as a backup but I have not put it to use yet so I can't say for sure. The review and the people I talked to gave it a high rating.

+1 for the OTS, but needs a whole new level of training to use safely.

+++ for "make sure that it fits". The reality is, that any mask will work well if it fits your face. And, the best made, most expensive mask will leak it it does not fit.
