What do you use interceptor for in a saltwater tank? I'm a vet tech, so I've been missing interceptor for years but they have also said they are coming back for years. So I will believe it when I see it on the shelves.

Gotcha. I would be worried about it killing a lot of the beneficial worms and such. Because milbemycim oxime is no joke.

It can wipe out the worms, snails and crabs. I just dosed 1/10th a pill of sentinel yesterday. Everything survived, minus the bugs.

My dogs use sentinel, so I used on of thiers. Many vets have given an Rx for the product with a simple explanation on what the use is for.

Just tell them to look it up on VIN network and explain what you intend to use it for. They give me the pills right there

Nope. I and most SPS hobbiests have been using it for years. I've dosed it 3 seperate times over 2.5 years.

In the case of sentinel (not sentinel spectrum) I haven't read about a single case where it exhibited any side effects that would have not otherwise existed with Interceptor.
From what I've gathered the (one and only) additional ingredient, Lufenuron, would only affect organisms that produce an exoskeleton ... i.e. crustaceans, which are specifically in the larval stage. At this point the other ingredient, milbemycin oxime will have likely killed it otherwise.
I'm no biologist but simple logic leads me to believe when paired with m.o. it's inert in reef aquaria.

Oh and I've also used it twice at dosages somewhat higher than the standard recommendation, with zero effects aside from those anticipated.

I always notice a large rebound in the number of copepods in my tanks after a treatment. After a month or so the tank is loaded with them again. I never worry about it.
