not so good dude. nothing eats it, & they spread like crazy, Warren actually tried it to see if it can survive in a tank that was treated with Copper.....guess what?

ive got the second one in my tank and ive heard they dont spread that fast. ive kept him in my tank and hes been in the same spot for a while now. if he gets out of hand ill just rip him out. he looks kinda neat imo.

and i wouldnt be so quick to get rid of the first one, he doesnt look like the normal dreaded apstasia(sp?), but i could be wrong.

The first one has a hard skeleton.Tentacles reach out at night.Only thing I can find on it says that its a cup coral.
Second one I think is some sort of anenome.
Just can't find any solid information either one.

The first one does look like a cup coral. Very common hitchhikers on live rock. Not at all like Aiptasia.
The second one looks like a Mojano. They are like Aiptasia in the way they spread, but are harder to kill, and there are no natural predators that I know of.

the 2nd is Mojano. like Larry said. i thought they looked nice in the beggining, untill I guess my nutrient level increased & the population in my live rock exploded, if you like them then ok. I dont think they harm other corals.

I have had much success in killing Majano. Suffolk County Fish & Reef sells some stuff that I have injected and they have not returned. Ask Joe there and he'll help you out.

You're wrong on that one, Dex. Mojano pack a potent sting, and like Aiptasia will remove all the fun from your tank ;)

I would say the top pic is a glass anemone. Another pest.

Glass Anemone is another name for Aiptasia, and they do not have a hard skeleton. I agree that the appearance is close to that of Aiptasia or glass anemone, but if it's got a skeleton, that's not what it is.

I believe that a "glass anemone is a TYPE of Aptasia, but different from the run of the mill, brownish ones with a long base. If I remember correctly, there are dozens of anemones in the aptasia group.

I think you are correct, but I'm not sure they are grouped under the name Aiptasia.
In any case, "Nuisance Anemone" certainly fits whether they are clear or brown.
I don't know of any Anemone, nuisance or not that has a skeleton, though. So I still gotta say that if the description is correct, that's not an Anemone.
