hello all! im on my 6th day of goldstripe maroon fry. they have been eating rotifers. lately ive notice them sticking on the side of the tank & once in a while they would swim to the middle & eat. Their bellies are fat which now ive added bbs. Is it healthy for them to stick around the walls? background is all black. everyday im losing about 10-15 larvaes which i still have about 100 fry left. so is it normal for them to stick to the walls? thanks for any thoughts! Trying my hardest to not lose any.

in my experience this has always been a lighting problem, did you recently increase the lighting intensity? did you stop adding green water?

i guess im not adding enough green water.my lighting is the same. its only an 8 watt single t5. thanks ctenophors rule! ill try to add more to see if it would keep them off the walls.

When you say the background is all black, is it painted on the outside, or hung with black paper? I've had issues with some light getting underneath coverings put on regular fish tanks, and causing a reflection that is just bright enough to cause the larva to nose into it. I've become a convert for BRT's (Black Round Tubs) that I bought at US Plastics for around $12 plus shipping.

Of course, I'm not advocating for a change with this batch, better to just ride it out.

its black paper cover all around & even on the bottom of the tank. I guess just as long as they're eating it will be okay to ride it out. Thanks Jay!

How can you see the dead fry when you do a waterchange in a black round tub? wouldnt it be alot harder to take care of the fry if you cant see them & how much your feeding them?

Added more green water & covered the light w/a yellow sheet of paper to lower the ambient this morning but still no change, they love the glass or what Jay said, they love the lights reflection. Only lost 1 today & have about 100 left which are growing big. The parents is laying another batch right now. What day can i safely transfer the fry to a grow out tank?

Thanks for all the help!
