Good starting Zoa?

I usually base what I keep on money. If a $5 or $10 frag survives, then I don't feel so bad spending a bit more.

Cheap and colorful.

I had good luck with my first colony of candy apple zoanthids.

I would say at first don't buy any big colonies or really pricey ones start with a cheap $5-$20 frag and see how it does over 2-4 weeks or more. I say don't buy a huge colony b/c if you find out you have a zoe eating nudibranc you may not notice it right away on a big colony but you would on a 10-20 polyps frag.

PLEASE PLEASE quarintine or dip your first zoe purchase trust me this is very important, dont just say well they look healthy and I don't see anything on them.

I would go with some eagle eyes or lunar eclypse. They both grow pretty fast and fairly cheap. Go to your LFS and see what they have for around $10 grab a 5-10 polyp frag and see how it goes...good luck.

agreed start with the cheap stuff and then work your way up the price ladder, go to frag swaps when your looking for more expensive polyps, most of the time you can get them for 1/2 the price of online stores and your LFS.

The best idea is to start with small cheap frags even when you get more experience into this hobby it's so fun to buy an expensive zoa and watch a two pollup frag mature into a 30 pollup colony.

Work your way up the ladder but the is nothing more rewarding than have a huge colony of space monsters or red hornets. Good luck!
