Good way to clean out cheato?

I was looking at my cheato this morning and it needs a good trim. What's the best way to get all the stomatellas, pods, etc out before I pitch it?

I would spread it out on a large trash bag and pick through to save the life in it...time consuming but worth it.

No easy way.

You can shake a lot of the pods out of it but the stomatellas will be harder to get.

Stomatellas just love light ( yeah right ). Spread it out into a thin layer in your tank and turn the lights on. I would imagine that they will leave the chaeto and run for cover pretty quickly. When they do, remove the chaeto.

if they can do it with cotton, they can do it with chaeto, just wait for the chaeto gin to be invented

I need some chaeto, so before you throw that away let me know

Yeah, just shake the heck out of it and give/throw it out. If you have that many stom. snails that stick, there's no shoratage in the tank anyway.

I shake the heck out of mine every day or two and it sends lots of pods, crud, etc. throughout the system but the fish and corals all love it. It's as good as feeding the tank a gallon or two of pods but for free.
