Goodbye nano reefkeeping!

I hate to do it but I am overstocked. I can hardly get my hand in my 20 cube so I had a 29 drilled and I will be moving into it this weekend. Will still be concidered nano? If not maybe I can get a 3gl Tom aquaria deco I saw at a LRS.

Thsi is besides the 10gl fuge which is carrying many extra corals.

Yeah, looks about time. GL with the new set-up. Post pics of the sump & new aquascaping once you're done. U still going to be using the same lights? :p

Very nice looking setup...I would be happy to take some of those Shrooms off your hands, to help you out of course....:)

yes, and I am looking for a 24" pc to go across the front for the deeper zoas. The MH will only run 5 hours.

i have a 29 gallon i upgraded from my 20 to.

drilled with corner over flow and 10 gallon sump.

i had to ditch my 24" PCs for hylides and T5 because my shrooms were dying. You better get a 30 inch light or a hylide or something because its a deeper tank that your 24" and 20" light wont span across...

drilling it is doing it right, i love the drilled tank, ill never go back

Same height x depth as my 20 bowfront cube, just gaining 4" at sides and I plan on using the 250wt Mh from the cube on this tank pendant style so should be enough lighting. I was planning on putting ricordias at top, zoas and shrooms lower.
To date I have 30 ricordias. Should work out well for them. They are doing fine now, but no room.
So how are the T5s working? What temp bulb are you using? I am looking into maybe doing T5s part of the light cycle, either that or PC.

Why only 5 hours? Semms a little low. How many hours are you running now?

I just transitioned from PC's to MH and didnt adjust my lighting cycle at all, 10 hours everyday. Some heads run 12+ hours a day.

Also, the PC's are going to be washed out by the MH, unless you're planning on using them for actinic supplementation. In that case, I'd plan on T5's or VHO's preferrably. Not really needed if you ask me. Just a run a 20k bulb or a blue 14k like a Phoenix. My .02.....

Here's my tank under a 20k Hamilton, and it's blue, too blue if you ask me. Will be changing to a Phoenix 14k soon.

I agree. I have the 20k and it is too blue. I only run for 5 hours because my corals are rics, zoas and shrooms only. They seem to do best with actinics 12 hrs and MH 5-6 hours. Some of my rics like FLoridas like the longer MH cycle but I have lots of yumas that seem to enjoy the actincs longer and less MH. I will be increasing over time, though slow.
I have been looking at the T5 lighting. So this would be better? What temp? I was thinking a double strip on the front but hadn't decided on the temp bulbs if I were to go that route. I have never had T5 before, only VHO and PC. Which 2 Maxijets are you using in there? I was going to use 2 1200s.
I do notice you have mostly hard corals so the transition was probably well accepted. Nice tank. How long have you had the clam? Looks healthy.

Ahhh, didn't know rics liked moderate lighting. ;) I've talked to a few people that prefer URI VHO's over T5's for actinic supplementation. Although T5's actinics would be fine. You could probably get them in both 420 & 460nm. Whatever you prefer.

I use 1-900 w/ the Flo and 1-600 for surface agitation. I tried 2 900's but the Hammer and shrooms didnt like it too much. 2-1200's should be fine for the zoos, not sure how the rics/shrooms will take it. Could be a bit much.

I've had the clam around 3 months. It's a nice addition :) Although it's a calcium hog. Here's a top-down shot:

You should get one for the new tank

OK. So I am back after all. It wasn't a 29 I pulled from the garage and had drilled and transfered my reef into from the 20 cube, but it was a 20 rectangular. How the heck I thought it was a 29 I don't know. I guess I was in a hurry that morning (I'm ALWAYS late to work) and wasn't paying attention.
So that's why I was having trouble getting everything in. I found the 29 and it looks like another reseal job so forget it.
Well, I'm having the 20cube drilled and moving back minus some rock so things fit better. I love that tank anyway.
I'm a dope.
