I was thinking of getting one too but after so many bad reviews I was told to just get a contour + 2 cam it is waterproof and comes with a waterproof casing
I like mine, but my primary interest was a camera that was easy for me to take out to the beach or to the woods with my kids and not have to worry about breaking it. I must say that I get good audio with the built in microphone.
I'm playing around with iMovie to get the hang of video editing. Once I get that down better, I'll have a few videos posted to YouTube.
There is a thread, I want to say in the photography forum, titled something like, "Hero 3 in Vanuatu." Give that a shot to see how it performs in the hands of a novice.
