Who has one of these, what are your impressions of this brand of pump?

They appear to be very well built, I hope they are reliable. I am thinking of getting a GRI 14110 for a CL. I can't find anywhere how many watts the pump uses though. I have heard you can't convert the amp draw over to watts with pumps, right? All I can see is that it uses only .5 amps, which seems pretty low.

Also, for anyone that uses this brand of pump, and/or espcially the model I listed above - can you comment on the noise level of these pumps?

I have a GRI 518 and really like it. It is fan cooled, but far less noisy than the Iwaki it replaced. I've ran it for 9 months so far, so good. I really can't think of anything negative about my pump.

Over 3 years on a GRI 520. No issues, pumps up from the basement to eductors very nicely. I think Championlighting had some info on them...

i use the 14110 on a closed loop with a squirt very low noise.i have it about 2 months no problems

They sound pretty good so far. Just wondering - since I can't seem to find out how much power these things use - do they add much heat to the system? Are there any issues with excessive calcium buildup around the impellers, etc?

I'm running a GRI520 for about a month now and it's very quiet. The 520 uses 220w.

Heh, looks like you forgot the link to thier website. I already found it anyway. Its funny, they give all sorts of info that you probably didn't need/want to know (what the rear thrust bearings are made out of) and yet they don't list something as simple as how many watts the pump uses.

I sent them an email, but I doubt they'll reply. I used the product inquiry page, and they give like, everything under the sun as a REQUIRED field. (Yeah, sorry, but I'm not giving you my address and phone # just to ask a simple question.) I type NA in 90% of the blanks, giving just my name and email address. Hopefully they'll write back.

Can anyone look and see if the watts used is printed anywhere on the pump for either the 14110 or the 14518? I am interested in either one of those pumps actually.

No watt information is printed on my 518.

Just an update: I did hear back from GRI first thing Monday (today.)

The wattage usage is as follows:

The 14110 uses 72w.
The 14518 uses 135w.

Those are actually pretty good #s IMO.

GRIs are good pumps.

The 510 (14110) is silent b/c it doesn't have a fan. The 518 and 520 are quite reasonable noise and electricity wise vs comparable pressure rated pumps.

In my opinion, the 510 is an excellent pump. I've used one for two years and I don't know how old it was when the previous owner sold it to me with his setup.

Dead silent. It's actually listed as using 108 watts at 6ft head.
