Got a new camera...

I picked up a Canon 40D this weekend and have been playing with it all weekend. It's awesome. I'm not having the best of luck with tank shots, but it's been a while since I've done much SLR photography and I don't have my tripod here.

Here's a shot of my Green Slimer that turned out pretty well:

And for good measure, here's one of the pup, Samson:

Hopefully more to come as I come closer to mastering this complex camera.

Come on I know you took more pics then that.. Just throw them up I want to see more... As everyone knows I love pics of corals and tanks.. They don't have to be perfect..

does pics?

The pictures are with the 28-135mm kit lens.

Efrain, I took hundreds of pictures. I want to work on my skills before putting them online. Any free time I have for a while will be spent with this camera, so you'll see some more soon.

If you are interested in a few pointers maybe on weekend we could meet up and I will show you what I do. And we can put my 100mm Macro on the 40D and see what you can do with that. :) PM if interested.

Brandon, right?

I'll definitely take you up on that offer. I've heard that's a "must-buy" lens, but it'll have to wait a bit.

I'll send you a pm to set up a time for the pointer session.

I took a few more tonight --- I really need a tripod and I bet after Brandon shows me the macro lens I'll have to jump on that too... My shots reaffirm that I really do have red bugs, so I'll need to treat those ASAP.

Top down shots look best, but I can't get them yet with the way my light is set up. I'll have to adjust that too, hopefully soon.

Purple XXXsomethingXXX from Menard, can't recall the name.

Blue Tort from Efrain -- is it a Hoeki?

Radiant Wrasse

See the coral behind the radiant? That was from Menard and had nice blue tips with neon green at the end. It's been really pale lately and the polyps are out, but barely. A close-up on that shows that it's just crawling with red bugs.

Even if my macro skills get decent, these close-up pictures can really let you know just what you need to fix. My goal is to get the treatment this week and do a thorough 3 step process.

Nice shots.. Looks like the Tort may have kept it's color and then some.. Lets see that big Monti on the bottom of the tank..

I'd show the big monti but it's as pale as ever. I don't understand that one, as it can't be the red bugs. The polyps are out, and it's blue at the growth edge, but the rest of it is really pale.

How's your Alk been since getting the Ca reactor hooked up? I've noticed that monti's can be finicky when it comes to Alk swings and the first thing they start to do is pale out. If not that then maybe the dreaded monti nudi's? Your wrasse should take care of those if you did have them.
